Superstar Rajesh Khanna passes away
The first superstar of Bollywood Rajesh Khanna passed away at his Aashirwad bungalow on Wednesday afternoon. He was 70. His health deteriorated after being discharged from hospital on Monday and was put on ventilator. The veteran actor was admitted to Lilavati hospital following weakness and low BP.
Since April, Rajesh Khanna’s health deteriorated. The news of his ill health first blew up when it was said that the superstar has stopped taking food. But then the actor consoled his ardent fans by appearing at the balcony of his Aaashiwad bungalow, throwing signal that he is fine. But in actually, all is not well with the actor. The next day he was rushed to Lilavati hospital and was put on observation. Various tests were carried on but the actor did not show complete sign of recovery.
The doctors allowed Rajesh Khanna to go home but again health woes hit the superstar. In the past one month, the matinee idol visited hospital twice. He breathed his last in the presence of his wife Dimple Kapadia, daughters Rinkie and Twinkle, son-in-law Akshay Kumar, grand children and close relatives. Akshay Kumar who was shooting abroad rushed to Mumbai on hearing the news.
Fondly called as ‘Kaka’, Rajesh Khanna has uncounted list of hits under his shoulder. Debuted with film, ‘Aakhri Khat’ in 1966, Khanna acted in more than 140 films. He was the box-office king and was the dream man of young girls. His style, acting charisma made the actor the first superstar of Bollywood.
‘Aaradhana’, ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Haati Mere Saathi’, Aakhir Kyun, ‘Safar’, ‘Amar Prem’ are few hits and the list goes on.
Rajesh Khanna ruled the silver screen in late 60’s and 70’s. His departure is a big loss for the Hindi film industry.
