Sunny Leone most searched Indian celebrity of 2012
Yahoo! India’s Person of the Year in the website's Year in Review (YIR) released on Thursday showed that Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone is the Most Searched Indian Celebrity on the net in 2012. She was followed by Olympic bronze medal winner Mary Kom who was the second most searched celebrity on net.
The review “reflects topics that dominated the daily online habits of Indian net users across 15 categories. This combines search trends with the editorial selection of what users read, recommended and shared most on the Yahoo! network in India during 2012", a Yahoo statement said.
It “offers a glimpse into the social trends, compelling newsmakers and top stories of 2012, based on what Internet users in India looked for. It is clear while looking at the top trends that scams and controversies, with a large dose of Bollywood gossip, captured the attention of the user in 2012", the statement said.
‘Bigg Boss 5’ and ‘Jism 2’ made Sunny very popular in India and her search went viral on net. Mary Kom’s struggle, winning bronze medal and bringing pride to India made her the second most searched celebrity.
Other celebs and news reports that ignited the 2012 search is Anna Hazare’s fight against corruption, Arvind Kejriwal’s new party. Saifeena’s marriage also hit the search items. Ironically, Aishwarya Rai’s post pregnancy weight has also been highly searched and made huge profits in Internet gossip.
