Sunidhi Chauhan makes her acting debut with ‘Playing Priya’
Popular singer Sunidhi Chauhan is making her acting debut with a short film titled ‘Playing Priya’. The film is a fantasy thriller based in an urban backdrop and has been directed by Arif Ali who made his directorial debut with 2014 romantic drama ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’.
Sharing her excitement about the new venture, Sunidhi said that the experience of facing the camera was “awesome.”
“I always wanted to act but never thought that I would enjoy it so much. The whole experience was just awesome,” the 32-year-old singer said in a statement. Sunidhi will be seen in the role of a bored housewife in the short film.
“Sunidhi has a thing for thrillers, dark films and twisted characters. So when I narrated this idea to her, she loved it and agreed to act in it,” director Arif Ali said. Speaking about the ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ singet’s acting skills, Ali added, “She was a complete natural. She has given 20 years to singing. If she concentrates a bit on acting too and gives it a few years, she can be a full-fledged actor. She has a bright career as an actor.”
Sunidhi began her playback singing career in Bollywood at a young age of 13 in 1996 after winning India’s first singing reality contest ‘Meri Awaz Suno’ which was purely based on talent and not audience voting system.
According to agency reports, ‘Playing Priya’ is being backed by digital content studio Humaramovie and will be released on the digital platform soon.
