Inside Pics: SRK, Deepika, Dhoni, Virat at IPL gala dinner
Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan and the stunning Deepika Padukone, according to reports, brought smiles on the faces of the guests present at the Indian Premier League (IPL) gala dinner in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, including Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, by breaking into some moves together with their collective charm
The sit-down dinner on Wednesday was a glamorous introduction to the seventh season of the IPL that began on Thursday April 16, in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On a funny note, Shahrukh Khan held a swayamvar for Virat Kohli and Virat selected Anushka Sharma as his bride.
According to Gulf News, SRK thanked Abu Dhabi for their ‘graciousness’ in hosting the IPL while his ‘Chennai Express’ co-star Deepika Padukone danced to songs from her blockbusters such as ‘Ram Leela…’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.
Reportedly, at the same time, interim Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sunil Gavaskar vowed to protect the integrity of the game during the tournament, which has recently been marred by reports of match fixing, and appealed to the guests not to tarnish all the players with the same brush.
Although UAE is a foreign land, finding a fan-base for the tournament was not an issue because of the huge expat population which has shown its support to the event by buying off tickets within a few days of them going on sale. But questions have been raised about the choice of UAE as a venue to host the event with its history as a source of match-fixers.
According to reports, Bollywood superstar SRK was his charismatic best during the private dinner gathering ahead of the cricketing event, where he wowed the audience — consisting mainly of cricketers, their families and officials — with his dances and also kept his spectators glued with his pulsating grooves.
Earlier, a source from SRK’s team, while talking to Emirates24/7, had informed that the actor was to perform to a medley of his recent hit songs.
Emirates24/7 quoted the source saying, “They reached Abu Dhabi yesterday (Monday) and since then they have been practising their dance moves.”
“He will be seen grooving to some of the famous numbers from his movie ‘Don’ and also ‘Lungi Dance’ from ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Chammak Challo’ from ‘RA.One’,” the source said.
Shah Rukh was supposed to attend the Kolkata Knight Rider’s opening match on April 16, and return to Mumbai on the 17th.
SRK’s favorite Deepika
performed to some of her famous movie songs, too at the event.
