Sridevi’s last rites to be performed tomorrow


Sridevi, who died in a hotel in Dubai where she went to attend Boney Kapoor’s nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding will be cremated tomorrow. The legendary actress passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 3am in the morning. Her post mortem was conducted and all the arrangement were made to bring her body back to India.

It is heard that Boney Kapoor and his brother Sanjay Kapoor left for Dubai to bring Sridevi’s body to Indian for the last rites. “Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here. I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet”, Sanjay Kapoor tweeted.

According to ANI, Sridevi's corporeal remains will be brought via a chartered flight from Dubai to Mumbai. Her last rites will be performed in Mumbai on Monday.

Many Bollywood celebrities are expected to arrive at Boney Kapoor’s residence to pay their last respect to the departed soul.

A source close to the family confirmed the news of her demise, "Yes it's true. She was in Dubai while some of the other family members came back to India. We hear it's cardiac arrest." 

No sooner the news spread, celebrities took to their social media account to express their shock and condolence.   

Sridevi was a powerhouse of talent. She gave many hits in her career, including ‘Himmatwala’, ‘Sadma’, ‘Mr India’, ‘Chandni’ and many more. She returned to silver screen after a hiatus with ‘English Vinglish’ directed by Gauri Shinde in 2012. She was last seen in ‘MOM’. She is survived by her husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi.
