Sridevi refuses to play negative role in ‘Fitoor’
Sridevi who is known for her versatility has expressed apprehension when she was approached to enact a negative role. Sridevi was offered a film based on Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. After making a grand comeback with Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish’, Sri is taking her own suitable time to sign her second film. Her fans are eagerly waiting to see her in another power-packed film.
According to the latest report, director Abhishek Kapoor approached Sridevi for his next film, 'Fitoor' but she has declined due to the grey shades. Sri had earlier played a negative role in 'Judaai'.
A source says, “Everyone is waiting to see what her next film is after 'English Vinglish'. The film has Katrina Kaif as the leading lady. Sushant Singh Rajput, who was earlier a part of the film, recently walked out of the project. Abhishek wanted Sridevi for a role, which was played by Robert De Niro in the 1998 big screen version of the novel. Abhishek tweaked the script and made it female-oriented."
However, a source from the production house says, “Sridevi couldn’t be part of the film, as she thought she wasn’t the right choice for the role.”
The latest about the film is that Sushant Singh Rajput walked out of ‘Fitoor’’ due to Shekhar Kapur’s ‘Paani’ and now Aditya Roy Kapoor will fill up the gap. ‘Fitoor' was supposed to go on floor this October but pushed behind to July, next year and Sushant’s dates are clashing with ‘Panni’.
Abhishek Kapoor and Sridevi remained unavailable for comment.
