Sonu Nigam’s mother dies, Bollywood pays tribute
Ace singer Sonu Nigam’s mother Shobha Nigam passed away today. She was suffering from illness for a long time and today she breathed her last. She was on medication for a year.
Sonu's good friend and fellow singer Kailash Kher tweeted, "sonu nigam bhaiya's mother is no more, God pls keep her in your lap.. Maa jaisa Duniya me koi nahi. prayers for family."
When his mother died, Sonu Nigam was busy composing a song for Sunny Deol’s next which is directed by Anil Sharma.
A source was quoted as saying, “It was Anil Sharma’s idea that Sonu should compose a song for the film. Both have known each other for a long time. Once Sonu composed the song, it was taken to Sunny for him to hear and he instantly liked it and included it in the film.
The source added, “Sonu didn’t use his own voice, but recorded it with Rahet Fateh Ali Khan. Sonu felt Rahat’s voice that would suit Sunny Deol the best.”
Bollywood in large number paid their last respect to Sonu Nigam’s mother. Composer Lalit Pandit spotted at Sonu’s residence to pay his tribute. Singer and Indian idol winner Abhijit Sawant was also seen. Singer Shaan, filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, singer Toshi Qureshi, composer Wajid, Salim Merchant, singer Abhijit, composer Sulaiman, actor Sachin, Shweta Pandit, Manish and Ronit Roy and Divya Dutta paid their last respect.
