Sonam Kapoor will be seen in 'Khoobsurat' remake
Sonam Kapoor is not seen in films as much as she is seen in magazine covers. Also she is known more for her style sense than her acting ability. Nevertheless she is quite popular and recently she has been in the news for bagging a role in the remake of “Khoobsurat” that was a hit in the year 1980.
The original film had Rekha play the lead role. Sonam thus before starting the shoot for this film wants to take some acting tips from Rekha who played the character of an effervescent and buoyant young girl.
A source close to Sonam said, “Sonam is very excited to start working on this project as it was one of the finest works of Rekha. It was a blockbuster of 1980.” The source also added, “She wants to understand the character well and take Rekha's advice how to go about it.”
The original film which was a comedy had been directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. It starred Dina Pathak, Rakesh Roshan, Ashok Kumar other than Rekha. The remake will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh. This film will be produced by Anil Kapoor and Sonam’s younger sister Rhea Kapoor.
Sonam will next be seen onscreen in the film “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” in a special appearance. The film has been directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. He had earlier directed films like “Rang de Basanti” and “Delhi 6”.
“Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” is a biopic on the athlete Milkha Singh. Speaking about the film she said, “Rakeysh was a wonderful mentor during Delhi 6 and I was looking forward to work with him. I know that Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is Farhan's film but then I just want to see Rakeysh direct. May be in future he may get me to play a part which has much larger presence but for this one, I am content with what has come my way.” Farhan Akhtar is playing the lead role in this film. It is all set for a release on the 12th of July, 2013.
She is also shooting for “Raanjhana” opposite Southern star Dhanush. This film too will release next year. She plays a Banarasi girl in the film, who joins the famous and prestigious JNU. Her fans will see her in an Indian look in this film.
Sonam’s only release this year had been an Abbas-Mustan film “Players” that starred Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film flopped at the box-office.
