Sonakshi Sinha to romance Rajinikanth

While superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ is set to be released in theatres, the 63-year-old actor prepares for his next flick. Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya R Ashwin, who is ready with her directorial debut ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ reportedly, said refuting rumours about her father’s weak health that he was fit and also ready to begin work on his next project, a live action movie.

Soundarya was quoted in a daily as saying, “Expect an announcement soon.” She said similar to ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, the next movie would be a period romance film. The setting would begin from the ’50s and continue till the present day.

Reports say Sonakshi Sinha, who recently refused to do ‘Vishwaroopam’ with Kamal Haasan is set to appear opposite Thalaivar Rajinikanth

According to sources, Sonakshi is said to be the first choice for the movie’s leading lady. But the ‘Singham 2’ starrer Anushka Shetty is a strong contender for the role as well.

It seems the movie needs two actresses — one would be a girl-next-door to showcase the character of the ’50s era, and the other a stylish girl of today.

Reportedly, Sonakshi liked the script very much. In fact she has been given the choice to pick the role she wants to do.

Media buzz is that the actress is trying to accommodate her dates for the film. The yet to be titled movie, is written and directed by KS Ravikumar, the same person who did the story and screenplay for ‘Kochadaiiyaan’.

The movie is expected to go to the floors by the end of May. Sources say a munificent set is expected to be created in Mysore for the movie, which would be in Tamil, but may also be dubbed in Hindi later. But the makers of the film are not ready to talk about the project.

In the past, Sonakshi’s weight had concerned many, but the star is happy with her makeover. Recently, she made quite a graceful entry at the Lakmé Fashion Week show in Mumbai in March and walked the ramp for top designer Manish Malhotra.

The Bollywood actress made her acting debut with ‘Dabangg’ in 2010, in which she starred opposite Salman Khan. She had to lose 30 kg in preparation for the role as a village girl.

Besides acting, Sonakshi is known as an animal lover, and she also posed for a PETA campaign advocating the adoption and sterilisation of dogs and cats.
