Sonakshi Sinha bags film based on Rani Ratnavati of Bhangarh?

Reports are rife that Sonakshi Sinha has been roped in for a period drama based on the life of Rani Ratnavati of Bhangarh, Rajasthan. Reportedly, the film was first offered to Kareena Kapoor who turned it down due to her pregnancy.

It seems like Kareena’s loss has become Sonakshai’s gain. However, an official confirmation regarding the movie and the star cast is yet to be made. Kareena will be, however, shooting for Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor’s co-production ‘Veera Di Wedding’ in August.

On the other hand, the period drama in question will be about the life and myth of Rani Ratnavati and the stories surrounding the hunted Bhangarh Fort. Rani Ratnavati was renowned for her astounding beauty and had many suitors.

It will be the first time that the ‘Dabangg’ actress will be seen in a period drama, if the reports turn out to be true.

According to a Filmfare report, the producers are trying to rope in Abbas-Mastan to direct the film and Nawazuddin Siddiqui has already been signed on for the movie.

Meanwhile, Sonakshi has her hands full with several projects. She will be next seen in A.R. Murugadoss' action film ‘Akira’ alongside Anurag Kashyap and Konkona Sen Sharma. The movie is set to hit screens on September 2.

The junior shotgun will also appear in John Abraham starrer ‘Force 2’ and will star opposite Akshay Kumar in ‘Namastey England’. She will also be seen in the role of a journalist in ‘Noor’, a film based on Pakistani writer Saba Imtiaz's 2014 novel, ‘Karachi, You're Killing Me’.

Reports also suggest that Sonakshi has been signed on for the remake of Rajesh Khanna's ‘Iteffaq’ alongside Sidharth Malhotra, and the film will be produced by Shah Rukh Khan.
