Sofia Hayat slammed for getting Swastika tattoos on feet

British-Indian model-actress and former ‘Bigg Boss’ contestant Sofia Hayat, who grabbed headlines for becoming a nun, Gaia Mother Sofia last year, is making news again, but for all the wrong reasons.

Sofia recently, posted a picture of her new tattoos – the Swatika symbol, on her feet. The symbol is considered sacred to religions like Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. While there is nothing wrong with the tattoo, the place where she got it inked has enraged social media users.

The bold model captioned the controversial picture, “Ok..so my last photo was me having tatoos on my feet…the sacred swastika..found on the feet of BUDDHA.. the sacred .. eternal..self existence..the star of David..the Islamic moon..universal manifestation..the Sun..hindu swastika..ancient christian cross..buddhist..tibetan..it encompasses the all..the power of the universe at my feet so to at yours..wake up..we are one!

“A symbol is just a symbol and it is the intent that makes the difference. A scalpel in the hands of a surgeon is a tool in his profession can save a life; while in the hands of a perpetrator is unlawful possession of a weapon, in the eyes of the law, to commit a crime,” she further wrote.

Sofia also used verses of the Buddha in the caption. She wrote, “In the Dahmmapada, Yamaka Vagga (The Twin Verses), Verses 1 and 2 straighten our minds and views on good and evil intentions. “Mano pubba?gam? mano, setth? manomay?Manas? ce padutthena, bh?sati v? katoti v? Tato na? dukkhamanvert?, cakka?’va vahato padam”. (Mind is the forerunner of (all evil) states. Mind is chief; mind-made are they. If one speaks or acts with wicked mind, because of that suffering follows one, even as the wheel follows the hoofs of the draught-ox). “Mano pubba?gama, mano setth? manomay? Manas? ce pasannena, bh?sti v? karoti v? Tato na? sukkamanveti, ch?y?’va anap?yn?”. (Mind is the forerunner of (all good) states. Mind is chief, mind-made are they. If one speaks or acts with pure mind, because of that, happiness follows one, even as one’s shadow that never leaves).”

Netizens were highly offended by Sofia’s post and asked her to get the tattoo remove. They also slammed her for not respecting religious sentiments. A comment on the picture read, “Learn to Respect other Relegions Cheap Lady, cheap tricks for Popularity, F*** off!” Some of her followers on Instagram also decided to unfollow her.
