Singer Abhijeet in trouble for abusing woman journalist

Bollywood playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who is known for his controversial comment once again landed in trouble when he entered into a Twitter fight with a woman journalist. An FIR has been lodged against Abhijeet for using derogatory remark against a woman journalist.

It all started when Abhijeet made an inappropriate statement on social media over the murder of Chennai techie. In his post, Abhijeet said that the brutal killing of the Chennai techie is the result of love jihad. Reacting to his statement, a Delhi based journalist Swati Chaturvedi  corrected the singer saying that the murderer was a man called Ramkumar and he has been arrested.  She said that the singer was trying to "foment communal riots".

She went on to add that singer Abhijeet was "jealous of Pakistani singers who took his mediocre career".

Abhijeet, however, lashes out the journalist calling her “an old woman” in his expletive-filled bluster.

Chaturvedi said that the singer’s tweets were “just obscenities and profanities” and she would file an FIR against him.

“(He has been) calling me all sorts of loaded, sexually nasty terms. It all started because he has been tweeting this information in the Chennai case. And I called that out and said that such things can start off riots,” Chaturvedi said.

Chaturvedi said Mumbai Police has reached out to her and assured a strong action against Abhijeet.

“I am going to file an FIR and I hope that police will take the required action. I very strongly feel that enough is enough. We as journalists and women have been targeted enough on Twitter. I am tired of these sexual innuendos we all face.”
