‘Shivaay’ censorship news false; film yet to be screened for censor
Reports are doing the rounds that Ajay Devgn’s film ‘Shivaay’ has been granted a ‘U’ certificate by the censor board after snipping out only one scene. However, the news turns out to be false and the movie is yet to be screened for the board.
A report in DNA quoted a source as saying, “‘Shivaay’ was screened on Thursday after ‘ADHM’ was passed by the CBFC on Wednesday. Ajay Devgn has been at the Walkeshwar office of the board for the last few days. Only the kiss and lovemaking scene between Ajay and Erika Kaar has been trimmed a bit.”
Later, film-critic, journalist and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the censorship report being untrue. Quoting officials from the Central Board of Film Certification, Taran wrote that ‘Shivaay’ was yet to be screened for censorship.
"#Shivaay censorship: Film NOT screened for the censor board yet. “News that it has been censored is untrue and baseless”: official statement," the tweet read.
Directed by Ajay himself, ‘Shivaay’ is an action thriller that also stars Polish actress Erika Kaar, Sayyeshaa Saigal and child actress Abigale Eames. It is set to release on October 28 and clash with Karan Johar’s big release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
On a related note, CBFC has passed ‘ADHM’ with a ‘UA’ certificate, but not without deleting quite a few steamy scenes between Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwaya Rai Bachchan. Moreover, due to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, the film is facing threats from some political activits due to the presence of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Even the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors’ Association of India (COEAI) has decided not to screen the film to avoid any untoward incident.
