Shiv Sena threatens Ghulam Ali, backs Shahrukh Khan

The Uttar Pradesh wing of Shiv Sena today threatened to disrupt Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali’s concert scheduled to take place in Lucknow on December 3. The Shiv Sainik warned UP government that if they are not in favour to invite commotion in Lucknow then they should cancel the show.

"If Ghulam Ali somehow manages to reach here to perform at the Lucknow Mahotsav as scheduled on December 3, we will make things worse for him than what was done with Sudheendra Kulkarni in Mumbai," state Sena chief Anil Singh said.

Sena reminded that no Pakistani artists are allowed to perform in India.

In one hand, Shiv Sena is threatening to spoil Ghulam Ali’s concert in Lucknow then on the other hand, they are landing full support to superstar Shahrukh Khan over his ‘intolerance’ remark.

“This country is tolerant and the Muslims are tolerant as well. Shah Rukh Khan should not be targeted only because he is a Muslim,” Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said.

Sena slammed Maharashtra government for being ‘double-faced’. “On one side the Chief Minister invites Ghulam Ali from Pakistan, saying they would be providing full security to him and on the other hand they order Shah Rukh Khan to go to Pakistan. This is double faced politics that is going on”, The Shiv Sena said in their mouthpiece Saamna.

Favoring Shahrukh Khan, it said, “Targeting him because he is a Muslim and telling him to go to Pakistan is unfair".

“Hafiz Saeed and many like him are trying to create a divide between the Muslim community in India and strong steps should be taken to stop it. The politicians should not criticise Khan over the debate of intolerance,” the editorial said.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya had earlier slammed the actor saying he ‘lives in India but his soul is in Pakistan’.
