...Bollywood baddie Shakti Kapoor was bashed up by drunken friends.
Kapoor, who had landed in Kolkata for a film shoot, was assaulted by two city-based friends in the early hours of Tuesday at the hotel where he was staying after they had an argument following dinner.
Confirming the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) Anuj Sharma said that following a complaint by Kapoor the two assailants, who were owners of a city-based video parlour, were arrested.
Kapoor, one of Bollywood's best-known villains, had filed the complaint with the Bhowanipore police station, Sharma said.
The accused, however, were bailed out later as the arrests had been made under bailable sections for voluntarily hurting and wrongfully restraining Kapoor, he said, adding investigation into the incident was on.
The hotel authorities when contacted, however, refused to comment on the incident, simply informing that the actor had already checked out.
Kapoor, who has left the city, was here in connection with the shooting of a Bengali film.
