Shahrukh to pay tribute to Yash Chopra
Shah Rukh Khan’s last film that released in 2012 has been “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” that was directed by Yash Chopra. On the 21st of October, Yash Chopra died unexpectedly a month before the release of the film as he was suffering from dengue. The film starred alongside SRK, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles.
Shah Rukh Khan has been part of many films right from the beginning of his career that were produced under the banner ‘Yash Raj Films’ and thus his relationship too extended beyond films with the director. On his death, SRK had tweeted, “Whenever my loved ones depart.. I feel a part of me extinguishes itself with them. Will there come a day.. that I will no longer have a bit of myself to let go of?”.
At the ‘chautha’ ceremony, Shah Rukh Khan was quoted as saying, “I have lost a father figure. When we were shooting in Kashmir Yashji told me that this is his last film, that time I couldn't understand what he meant by that but today I have understood it all."
The 13th Zee Cine Awards will be organized in Mumbai very soon, and Shah Rukh Khan has been approached to perform on stage to pay a tribute to the veteran filmmaker. A press conference was held for Zee Cine Awards where Shah Rukh confirmed the news saying, “I will pay tribute to Yashji by dancing with the leading ladies of his films. However, we are still in the stages of finalizing things."
Shah Rukh Khan has worked with Yash Chopra on “Dil Toh Pagal Hai”, “Darr”, “Veer-Zaara”, until the more recent “JTHJ”. The award function will be held on the 6th of Jan and will be aired on Zee TV on the 20th of January.
Earlier even Priyanka Chopra had paid a tribute to Yash Chopra at the People’s Choice Awards, in a week’s time. She performed on all the old songs of the films of the director. Yash Chopra had a five decade long career and thus his contribution to Bollywood has been unmatched. Priyanka even expressed her sorrow on the fact that she will never be directed by him anymore.
Amitabh Bachchan even took to his blogging site after he witnessed the performance at the event and said, “A most touching tribute to Yash Chopra by Priyanka performing to all or most of his popular songs throughout his numerous films.”
