Shahrukh’s Knight Riders started the match at the home ground after seeking the blessing of the great poet Rabindranath Tagore as the great Tagore celebrated his birth anniversary on May 8. Before the match started off, the Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shahrukh Khan paid tribute to the great bard as he is a great fan of Tagore’s poems and songs. With the blessings of Tagore and the support of the fans, Kolkata Knight Riders bounced back and defeated Bangalore Royal Challengers in a nail-biting match at the Eden Garden.
Due to the heavy downpour, the number of overs were cut off to 16. Sourav won the toss and selected to bat first. They kept a less challenging score of 129 before the Bangalore team. Sourav Ganguly's side restricted Royal Challengers to 124 and registered victory again after four consecutive losses.
The game was equally important for the Kolkata and Bangalore teams to remain in the T20 match. Vijaya Mallya and Katrina Kaif were there to cheer for their team.
