Shahrukh Khan live, in Delhi soon
After picking up the broom to clean Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan has consented to shake a leg in Delhi, for yet another cause.
Come September 17, and the city will play host to this very special Delhiite.
SRK will perform live for the first time in the Capital, for the cause of spreading awareness about the disabled and the importance of creating a barrier-free world for their lot. The mega concert is being organised by National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium and it commemorates the 10th anniversary of the organisation. Rani Mukerji, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan and Malaika Arora are also expected to perform in the show.
Says Javed Abidi, executive director NCPEDP: “After all the struggle with authorities and policy makers, we’ve finally managed to put the show together the way we wanted.”
If he has his showdown with red tape, Abidi is most impressed with Shah Rukh: “Apart from being a superstar, he is also a great human being. We approached him after he took up the cause of cleanliness in Mumbai recently with Preity Zinta. And he consented in no time. He even expressed his willingness to be part of the publicity campaign for the show. Being a Delhiite, his concern for the city was quite evident in the way he discussed the whole show with us.”
About the other stars, Abidi says: “We are trying to bring in some other prominent faces as well. I am sure SRK and the others will prove to be great benefactors and help create the required awareness. We also hope to raise enough fund for the cause.”
Promises Sanjay Aggarwal, co-ordinator of the show: “Delhi will witness an unprecedented event. And that too for a noble cause.”
