Shahrukh Khan doubled his fees to reject ‘Padmavati’

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ is very much talked about for its casting couch. According to the latest buzz, Shahrukh Khan, who was approached to play Deepika Padukone’s husband before Shahid Kapoor doubled his fees to avoid the multi-crore periodic drama.

Talking about the same a source told Bollywood Life that Shahrukh Khan increased his fee to reject Padmavati, ''Shahrukh Khan, who is busy with number of projects doubled his fee to reject the role. Now he is one of the highest paid actors and his demand was too huge for the film and so that didn't happen". Yes! Also there were was a strong buzz that due to Ranveer Singh's tantrums SLB even approached SRK to play the lead Allauddin Khilji, but all that never happened and it was just a baseless rumour.''

Shahrukh Khan usually demands 40-50 crore for every film but for SLB’s ‘Padmavati’, he has hiked his fees to 90 crore.

According to reports, Shahrukh Khan was approached to play the role of Deepika Padukone's on-screen husband and King Rawal Ratan Singh of Chittor. Earlier television heartthrob Vicky Kaushal was approached to play the role of Deepika’s husband but Deepika expressed her discomfort to portray intimate scene with a new guy and hence asked Bhansali to replace Vishal with an established actor.

After Shahrukh Khan walked out of the project, Bhansali roped in Shahid Kapoor to play Deepika’s on-screen husband. But Shahid also had issue with the fees and recently he was spotted out Bhansali’s office to discuss his role and the remuneration.

‘Padmavati’ is a period drama that revolves around the obsession of Sultan Alauddin Khilji for Rani Padmavati of Mewar who was known for her intellect and beauty. The movie will go on floors in September and will release in December next year.
