Shahrukh Khan crosses 7 million followers on twitter

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, or ‘King Khan’ has become one of the most followed celebrity on Twitter by setting a new record on crossing seven million followers on the micro-blogging site.

Shah Rukh was seen tweeting, Wow 7 million followers! I just want say nobody here is a Follower we are all Leaders just with the same idea & so the bond. Love & Thanx.”

His fans celebrated his seven million followers by trending #SRK7Million on Twitter, too.

King Khan has left behind the two other Khans of Bollywood, Salman and Aamir, who have more than six million followers on Twitter.

But megastar Amitabh Bachchan beats all of them with over eight million followers.

Shah Rukh, after joining Twitter in 2010, has been a very active user of the social media site with about 6,756 tweets. Here he shares his personal and professional life with his fans and takes part in interactive sessions such as ‘Q&As’ with his fans as well.

The 48-year-old star was last seen in the action-comedy movie, ‘Chennai Express’, directed by Rohit Shetty.

According to reports, in 2011, the ‘Los Angeles Times’ named him ‘the world’s biggest movie star’. He features on the list of the most influential names in Indian culture quite regularly, and in 2008, ‘Newsweek’ tagged him as one of the 50 most powerful people in the world.

The Badshah rose to prominence by playing roles in romantic comedies such as ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ in 1995, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ in 1997, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ in 1998 and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ in 2001. He also earned appreciations for his performances in such roles as a NASA scientist in ‘Swades’ in 2004 and a hockey coach in ‘Chak De! India’ in 2007. And the list continues with the title roles that he played in ‘Devdas’ in 2002 and ‘My Name Is Khan’ in 2010. Quite a number of his films have grossed more than Rs one billion worldwide.

Shah Rukh was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2005, and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2007 for his contribution to acting.

The superstar holds the position of co-chairman of the motion picture production company, Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries. He is also co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders.
