Shah Rukh Khan to replace Ranveer Singh in ‘Padmavati’?
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are said to be reuniting for the third time for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project ‘Padmavati’. The period drama is scheduled to go on floors in September, but the cast of the film has not been officially confirmed yet.
Now buzz is that Ranveer is being replaced in the film. He was supposed to play the role of Sultan Alauddin Khilji who was obsessed by Rani Padmavati of Mewar. The character has grey shades.
Having wrapped up the shooting of Aditya Chopra’s ‘Befikre’, Ranveer had started preparing for his next film ‘Padmavati’. He was doing research on his role of Alauddin Khilji and had asked Bhansali for a copy of the script. This didn’t go down well with the filmmaker, a report in DNA stated.
Another report in a popular entertainment portal, however, claimed that Ranveer has walked out of the project. ‘Padmavati’, which revolves around the queen who was renowned for her beauty and intellect is a two hero movie. And Ranveer, who has bagged all the major awards last year for ‘Bajirao Mastani’, wasn't keen on doing the same at this point of his career, the report stated.
Whatsoever the reason, speculations are rife that Bhansali has approached his ‘Devdas’ actor Shah Rukh Khan for the project. A source close to the project mentioned that the ‘Dilwale’ actor not only loved the script but has even decided to give a look test for the film.
Meanwhile, Deepika will be seen in the role of Rani Padmavati, while Shahid Kapoor has been reportedly signed on to play her on-screen husband Ratan Singh.
As per reports, the shooting for ‘Padmavati’ will begin next month and Bhansali is aiming to complete filming within six months and release the film in December next year.
