'Sena' before 'Fight Club'?
The rumour mills are working overtime. Just when Vicky Chopra, nephew of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is all geared up to make his directorial debut with FIGHT CLUB comes the news that Vicky has dropped the film and is concentrating on starting SENA with the Big B, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan essaying pivotal roles...
...“The least the media can do is get their facts right,” Vicky tells me, “Sohail and I were planning SENA much before FIGHT CLUB was 'born'. But procuring dates of some stars was difficult then. They were pre-occupied with other projects and the combination dates weren't matching at all. That's when Sohail suggested that we start something else. May be a smaller film… And that's how we began work on FIGHT CLUB.”
But that 'small film' has also grown big in size and stature. This writer did a news-break more than three months ago about the star cast of the film – Suniel Shetty, Dino Morea, John Abraham and Sohail Khan. In fact, the casting of Dino and John in a project together did raise eyebrows.
But looks like, the 'clash' of Dino and John on the big screen will have to wait for some time, for John has opted out of the project due to date problems. “So, we're now looking at casting another actor,” Vicky adds.
Incidentally, the action sequences in FIGHT CLUB will be executed by stunt co-ordinators from South Korea. An action film with lots of light moments, FIGHT CLUB is about college students. Besides one hero [to step in John's shoes], three heroines are under finalisation.
While FIGHT CLUB will roll in June [subject to the fourth hero, who's yet to be finalised], “SENA will roll in 2005,” Vicky adds.
