‘Satyagraha’ crosses 50 crore mark in just six days

Released on Friday 30th August ‘Satyagraha’ collected around Rs. 51.92 crore till Wednesday night.
‘Satyagraha’made a good start at the box-office. In the opening weekend, it earned 39.12 crores at the box-office. It is expected that the film business will not be affected by the two big releases this week, ‘Zanjeer’ and ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’.
It is Prakash Jha’s highest ever opening. He made outstanding movies like 'Damul', 'Mrityudand', 'Gangajal', 'Apaharan', 'Raajneeti' 'Chakravyuh'.
"Satyagraha grew steadfastly and robustly in evening/night shows. Collects Rs. 11.21 cr on Friday. Prakash Jha's biggest opener thus far," wrote Trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter.
Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Amrita Rao starrer, ‘Sataygraha’ is showing an upward trend and all because of positive word of mouth. Made on a budget of 50 crore, the film is expected to recovered the cost of making in the coming days and will made handsome profit. The film received a mixed review from critics and mixed response from the viewers.
On the opening day, the movie collected Rs. 11.21 crore and it made Rs 13.08
crore and Rs. 14.83 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively, said a UTV
A Delhi cinema official informed the movie "performed well over the weekend". "On Friday, the occupancy was 70 percent, Saturday 88 percent and Sunday 84 percent. The film is not just about politics, it has emotions too which people are liking,” Puneet Sahay of Spice Cinemas told IANS.
Sahay said the audiences are enjoying ‘Satyagraha’ so much that despite the releasing of ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ and ‘Zanjeer’ on September 6, the movie will continue to make money.
"‘Madras Café’ did well too. It had 80 percent occupancy this weekend. But since new movies are releasing frequently, the profit capacity is getting affected. The number of shows get reduced as we need to screen the new releases too,” said Sahay.
