Sashikala, Tabassum, Salim Khan at Nanda’s funeral


Bollywood mourns veteran actor Nada’s death and many well known celebrities and close pals of Nanda arrived for the funeral and paid their last respect to the departed soul. Nanda passed away on Tuesday morning at her Andheri residence following a massive heart attack.

Veteran actresses Saira Banu, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Shammi, Tabassum rushed to pay their last respects to the legendary diva. Salim Khan, Salma Khan also paid their last respect to Nanda who featured in some of the memorable films like Prem Rog, Parineeta, Gumnaam, Kaala Bazaar, Bhabhi and many more. 

The women stayed back while the men went ahead for the cremation ceremony.

Family, fans bid a tearful adieu to yesteryear actress Nanda, who was cremated at suburban Oshiwara on Wednesday (March 25). Nanda’s close relatives performed the last rites.

Best known for her stellar performances in films like 'Hum Dono', 'Ittefaq' and 'Gumnaam', Nanda started her filmy journey as a child artist with 'Jaggu' in the 50s. It was paternal uncle-filmmaker V Shantaram who gave child artist Nanda a big break in Bollywood by casting her in 1956 hit movie'Toofan Aur Diya'.

With the success of 'Toofan Aur Diya', there was no looking back for her and delivered hits like 'Jab Jab Phool Khile', 'Gumnaam', 'Teen Deviyan', 'The Train', 'Mandir', 'Angarey', 'Ram Laxman', 'Bandi', 'Ittefaq', 'Hum Dono', 'Prayashchit', 'Ahista Ahista', 'Prem Rog' and 'Mazdoor' among several others. She was one of the reigning actress of 70’s and shared screen space with noted actors like Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Dev Anand, Waheeda Rehman, Rajesh Khanna and Shashi Kapoor.

Nanda was nominated for Filmfare awards five times and she won Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for 'Aanchal'.
