Sanjay to play Amitabh's role in Satte Pe Satta remake

Old films being remade is no longer a new concept. Several filmmakers have remade hit films like Don, Karz etc. Now another hit film of the 80's, Satte Pe Satta which starred top bollywood hero Amitabh Bachchan will be remade by original director Raj Sippy. And Amitabh's double role in the film will be enacted by actor Sanjay Dutt. The remake of Satte Pe Satta will be titled Seven. 

Satte Pe Satta is one of Sanjay Dutt's favourite films and he has watched it umpteen number of times. In fact sources claim that it was Sanjay Dutt who suggested that they should do a remake of Satte Pe Satta. Director Raj Sippy said, "Sanjay and I had several meetings to discuss the film. We have already worked out the major details. Sanju is perfect for the role of a 40 plus bachelor in the film." However director Raj claims that the remake Seven will have a few changes. Instead of having seven brothers like in the original film, Raj plans to have four brothers and three sisters in the remake. The rest of the huge cast for Seven is still to be finalised, however Raj says, "I am keen to cast Rani Mukherjee for Hema's role and Vidya Balan for Ranjeeta's role, but I am yet to approach them." 

Satte Pe Satta was a hit film of the 80's and it was widely appreciated. Sanjay and Raj Sippy share a friendly relation and hence they decided to do the film together. Both Sanjay and Raj are equally excited about making the remake of this successful film, but they are no doubt apprehensive too, as remakes are always compared to the original. So will Seven live up to all the expectations?
