Sanjay and Manyata to marry again

Sanjay, Manyata are going to get married again. After the Goa law raised various questions over the legality of their marriage, they have decided to call off their first wedding and register their marriage under special Marriage Act of 1954. Question was raised against their marriage when Manyata could not obtain a residence certificate in Goa. Her marriage with Sanjay was also declared illegal when she failed to show the divorce certificate from her first husband, Mehraj Shaikh.

Looking at all the problems, the duo has at last decided to call off their first marriage and again register their nuptials under special Marriage Act of 1954. On Wednesday, the couple has filed an application before the Salcete Sub-Registrar saying they do not wish to solemnize their marriage under the Portuguese Civil Code, 1867. They asked them to cancel all the legal documents that they have produced during their wedding.

Manyata has got a two-and-a-half-year-old son from Mehraj who is presently staying with her mother in Hyderabad. Manyata and Sanjay got married on February 7, 2008 in the witness of few close friends. Sanjay’s sisters and daughter Trishala were out of the entire affair. They had also arranged a post marriage party which was attended by Sanjay’s close friends and relatives. Sanjay and Manyata seem to be a happily married couple today. But now they have to fight for the legality of their marriage.
