Sanjay Dutt to star in Sanjay Gupta’s Shoot Out at Lokhandwala
Many directors are making films that are based on real life incidents or events, like Gudiya based on a Muslim woman’s life, the rape of a South African model, the much talked about model Jessica Lal’s murder and even a film based on the life of actress Parveen Bhabi. At a time when real life inspired movies seem to be the rage in bollywood, one more real life inspired movie will join the bandwagon.
Sanjay Dutt will star in a movie that is based on a shoot out that took place in a Lokhandwala flat in ninety ninety two when the then additional commissioner of police, Aftaab Ahmed Khan gunned down, don, Dawood Ibrahim’s aides including ring leader Maya Dolas and Dilip Bua in an encounter lasting fourteen hours. After the encounter, it is said that Khan faced praise as well as criticism. It was alleged that the killings were executed at the behest of Dawood Ibrahim to take revenge on his aides who had fallen out with him.
The film will be produced by Sanjay Gupta under the banner of White Feather Films and the film has been tentatively titled Shoot Out at Lokhandwala. The film will be directed by Apoorva Lakhia and will star Sanjay Gupta’s close pal Sanjay Dutt. Apoorva Lakhia is also very close to the Bachchans, hence he wants either Amitabh or Abhishek Bachchan or both the actors to be a part of this film too. Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, Emraan Hashmi and Javed Jaffery have already been finalized for this movie. Lakia requires two more actors along with two actresses for his film.
Suresh Nair has written the script along with inputs from Lakhia and Gupta. Gupta himself was to direct the film earlier but for some reason dropped the idea. About his chosen director for the film, Gupta said, “Lakhia is a very hard-working man, very honest and sincere.” The director Lakhia also stated, “I have been hired by Gupta and Dutt. We think alike and they will be giving me full freedom on many aspects of filmmaking. I am very charged about the project.”
The music for the film will be scored by rock bands like Euphoria, Indian Ocean and Strings. Shibani Kashyap will also be doing a soundtrack for the film and composer Biddu will make an international English track for the film. Shoot Out at Lokhandwala will be shot in Mumbai and its outskirts. The film will go on the floors from August 1 of this year.
