Sanjay Dutt is accused no 117 in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts. The special TADA Court has begun to deliver its verdict to the accused in the case and a few have already been convicted. Sanjay Dutt has been charged with possession of an AK 47 rifle and conspiring and prior knowledge of the blasts. Even though Sanjay was present at the Court on 12 September when the verdicts on the blast case began, his verdict will probably take another one month.
On Tuesday, 12 September Sanjay Dutt entered the designated premises of the Arthur Road jail where the hearing for the trial was being heard. Clad in a pair of blue jeans and blue shirt, Sanjay looked calm and composed and was accompanied by sister Priya Dutt and minister Baba Siddiqui. Sanjay has already served 18 months in prison for his role in the blasts case and was then let out on bail. Currently Sanjay Dutt’s professional career is going great, especially after the great applause that his film Lage Raho Munnabhai has received. Since then Sanjay’s demand in the industry too has increased, however filmmakers are still apprehensive about casting him in their films due to his undecided fate in the bomb blasts case. According to sources Sanjay too is naturally anxious about the verdict .
Sanjay Dutt has been accused of taking weapons from accused Abu Salem and also of conspiracy. He has been charged under the Arms Act and if convicted he may receive a minimum of five years in jail and as for the conspiracy charge; it could go up to a life term. Sanjay Dutt’s lawyer Farhana Shah said “I think the order on Sanjay Dutt’s fate can take up to a month’s time.” Now Sanjay will only have to wait, hope and pray for the outcome of his verdict to be less harsh. Along with his personal fate Sanjay’s professional life too is on hold.
