Sanjay Dutt gets four more weeks to surrender
Sanjay Dutt was supposed to surrender on April 18th but the actor has asked Supreme Court for some more time to surrender. The Supreme Court has considered his request and gave the actor four more weeks to surrender. Sanjay wants six more months to surrender as many films are lining up for shoot but he was given only four more weeks to surrender.
On March 21, Sanjay was sentenced to five years jail term for illegal possession of weapons and AK-56 which was linked to the serial blasts in Mumbai. Sanjay has already served 18 months jail term and now he has to face jail term of three and a half years only.
Sanjay has filed review petition against the SC judgment. Yesterday, the
Supreme Court rejected the appeals of 70-year-old Zaibunissa Kazi and two
others, who also asked for some more time before to surrender in connection to1993
Mumbai blasts case. They said in their petitions that they are too old and sick
to handle the jail sentence. Their pardon petition is pending with the
President of the country.
According to report, 70-100 crore rupees are riding on Sanjay. He is rounding round the clock to complete his assignments before going to jail. The actor broke down in a press conference and said that he would not seek pardon.
