Salman Khan performs at Umang, annual police function despite a high fever


Every year the annual police function, ‘Umang’ is held and bollywood definitely makes its presence felt at the event. After all that the police force does for the society and people, the stars do their best to entertain and perform at this function. This year Umang 2006 saw several bollywood celebs attend the event and even perform for the police force. Actors John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty etc performed at the event. Salman Khan too performed at the event despite having a high temperature. Salman said “Anything for the welfare of the police.”
Umang 2006 was organized by the Morani Brothers and the event was hosted by Malaika Arora Khan, Rakshanda Khan and Roshan Abbas. The event began with performances by former beauty queens and actresses Priyanka Chopra and Celina Jaitley who performed to a medley of songs. Actor John Abraham made a grand entry with his bike onto the stage and performed his bit. Others who were seen attending the event were actress Vidya Balan, Jackie Shroff, Madhur Bhandarkar, and Bipasha Basu who watched John happily along with the audiences. Performances were also given by singer Adnan Sami who sang a number of songs, Esha Deol who danced with gusto and Shilpa Shetty who entranced the crowds with her hot moves.

Saif Ali Khan came in with daughter Sara who sat amongst the audiences when Saif took to the stage to strum his guitar. Actor Govinda was his usual cheerful self and promoted his forthcoming film Bhagam Bhag along with Akshay Kumar. Singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Himesh Reshammiya also took the mike to chant out a few numbers. Salman Khan enthralled the crowds with his song and dance act, in spite of running a temperature and had his fans cheering for him. Riya Sen too performed at the event. The event carried on past the 10 pm deadline, but for once nobody seemed to mind. There were huge fireworks at the event and later a private dinner was also held which was attended by a few officers and some of the bollywood brigade.
