Salman Khan confirms doing Riteish Deshmukh’s Marathi film ‘Shivaji’

After his blockbuster movie ‘Sultan’ Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will now be seen in a Marathi film once again. He will be starring in ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji’ along with Riteish Deshmukh who will also be producing it.

Salman confirmed the news on Friday (July 15) at a press meet held to celebrate the success of his latest release ‘Sultan’. "I'm doing a Marathi film '...Shivaji' with Riteish. It's a good five to six days of shoot and Riteish is producing the film. I have a good role," he told reporters.

The 50-year-old actor had earlier made a cameo appearance in Riteish’s Marathi debut ‘Lai Bhaari’ which went on to become the highest grossing Marathi film at that time.

Salman however, didn’t reveal much about his role in the film. “I did ‘Lai Bhaari’ and I had told him (Riteish) I wanted to do another film in the language. I literally forced myself into this film. It's not just a guest appearance like ‘Lai Bhaari’ and to know what I am doing in the film, you will have to watch it," the ‘Dabangg’ actor added.

Directed by Ravi Jadhav, ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji’ will see Riteish portraying the iconic Maratha warrior in the film. The ‘Housefull’ actor will be producing the film with his actress wife Genelia D’Souza under their banner Mumbai Film Company.

Salman, meanwhile, is basking in the immense success of ‘Sultan’ which has become the highest grossing Bollywood film of the year and the fifth highest grosser among all Indian languages. The wrestling-based film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar is still running in theatres.
