Salman, Govinda to team up for 'Partner' sequel
A recent special screening of Riteish Deshmukh’s second Marathi production venture ‘Yellow’ saw Riteish and Salman Khan greeting each other cordially.
Media reports said they looked like long-lost friends wearing broad smiles on their faces. Moreover, it seemed Sallu bhai was hugely impressed with ‘Yellow’ and reportedly was in talks with Riteish to make the film in Hindi. Among others who attended the screening was Salman’s ‘Partner’ co-star Govinda, dressed in the typical Govinda style.
One may wonder, apart from discussing a Hindi remake of ‘Yellow’ with Riteish, whether Salman had a chat with Govinda about a sequel to ‘Partner’. The pair was pretty entertaining in the movie and viewers would definitely love to see them on the big screen again!
Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Yellow’ is a movie about a child with Down Syndrome and it shows the special needs of special children.
‘Yellow’ is directed by Mahesh Limaye, which features Uupendra Limaye, Aishwaraya Narkar, Usha Nadkarni, Mrunal Kulkarni and many more.
‘Partner’ was a romantic comedy film directed by David Dhawan in 2009. The film featured Govinda and Salman Khan, with Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta. The movie was a remake of the 2005 Hollywood film ‘Hitch’.
‘Partner’ tells the story of Prem (played by Salman Khan), who is a Love Guru who solves the love issues of his clients. He meets Bhaskar Diwakar Chaudhary (played by Govinda) who comes to Prem for help.
Bhaskar loves his boss Priya Jaisingh (played by Katrina Kaif) but cannot express his love to her because she is the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Initially, Prem refuses to help Bhaskar and goes to Phuket, Thailand. Bhaskar follows him there and convinces him to help.
The story continues with Prem returning from Thailand, meeting Naina (played by Lara Dutta), a photo journalist who was trying to escape from some gangsters. Prem saves her and falls in love with her. After a few confusions and misunderstandings, finally on the two couples’ honeymoon night, Bhaskar once again asks Prem for help, but this time they both unite with their respective wives.
The ’90s saw Govinda as a superstar. But after a series of flops in the 2000s, he had only one major film to his credit and that was ‘Partner’ in 2007, with Salman Khan. Since then, he has featured in 11 movies. But except ‘Life Partner’ and ‘Raavan’ in 2010, nothing major has happened with Govinda.
