Salman essays the role of a Sardar in Heroes
For the first time ever, actor Salman Khan will look and play the part of a Sardar in the film Heroes. Salman has grown a short beard and has worn a turban in the film and looks like an authentic Sardar. So is Salman going the way of many seasoned actors like Aamir, Amitabh etc who change their looks according to their characters? Well for Heroes, Sallu has definitely got into character.
Samir Karnik who is directing the film admits that Sallu has the look of a Sardar in the film; he says "Yes, Salman is playing a Sardar who hails from Punjab in the film. Salman grew his own beard for three weeks and that makes his look more authentic. He didn’t want to stick a fake beard on, which is really commendable.” In fact recently the co-producer of the film aired a few teasers for a select audience and they almost did not notice Salman in the get up of a Sardar. The make up and look of a Sardar has been perfected. Heroes is a multi-starrer and is being produced by Sohail Khan. Apart from Salman, it also stars Sohail Khan, Vatsal Seth, Bobby Deol, Sunny Deol, Mithun Chakraborthy, Preity Zinta, Amrita Arora; Riya Sen. Preity Zinta will also be seen in a new serious avatar in the film.
According to sources, Heroes is based on The Motorcycle Diaries of Che Guevara. It is based on the memoirs penned by Che Guevara recounting the adventures that he and his best friend had while crossing South America in the 1950's. Heroes is reportedly based on a similar journey. Sohail Khan and Vatsal Seth are said to be the two friends who embark on the journey which starts from New Delhi and ends in Ladakh. So it seems like Sallu is going the Akki way as the latter too will be seen as a Sikh with turban et al in Singh is King and it remains to be seen which one of them is appreciated more in the role of a Sardar.
