Sajid Nadiadwala to celebrate 'Highway', '2 States' success
Reportedly, Sajid is now planning a very big celebration bash for his twin successes this year with ‘Highway’ and ‘2 States’.
According to media, speaking from Warsaw Nadiadwala said, “By the grace of god this has so far been a fantastic year for my production house.”
“When we produced ‘Highway’, Imtiaz Ali and I planned it as a small experimental quick film, while we waited for Ranbir Kapoor’s dates later during this year. How were we to know ‘Highway’ would be such a success. It is one of my proudest achievements. And now I hear roaring reports of ‘2 States’. So it’s a double triumph for Alia Bhatt from our production house.”
Nadiadwala also hopes that the streak of luck continues this year for his production house.
“We’ve Tiger Shroff’s launch film ‘Heropanti’ coming up next. We hope it does for Tiger what ‘Hero’ had done for his father Jackie Shroff.”
Nadiadwala, who is a lawyer by education, began his career as a production assistant in his uncle’s production house before creating his own production company called ‘Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd’. The production company made films such as ‘Jeet’ in 1996, ‘Judwaa’ in 1997, ‘Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega’ in 2000, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ in 2004, ‘Housefull’ in 2010 and ‘Housefull 2’ in 2012.
In 2006, in spite being heavily hyped his film, ‘Jaan-E-Mann’ failed to do well at the box-office. But his next release, the 2007 film ‘Heyy Babyy’, was one of the biggest hits of the year. ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, his 2009 production which included the cast of American actors such as Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh. Continuing with the hit trail he produced ‘Housefull’ in 2010 featuring Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Boman Irani. On September 30, 2010, he announced a sequel to ‘Housefull’ which again starred Akshay Kumar and was directed by Sajid Khan. ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ another movie by Sajid released on October 1, 2010. His ‘Housefull 2’ released on April 5, 2012 became another hit.
Sajid, in late 2009, announced his intention of remaking Ravi Teja’s ‘Kick’. The film will feature actor Salman Khan and actress Jacqueline Fernandez in the leads. It is Sajid’s directorial debut film.
