Saif, Lara bag Rajiv Gandhi award
Saif Ali Khan and Lara Dutta have been awarded 11th Rajiv Gandhi annual award for their contribution to Indian cinema. Political leaders and Bollywood personalities attended the extravagent event, which was hosted by Geeta Basra.
On receiving the award from Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Vilas Rao Deshmukh, Saif said "This is for the first time I have received an award which is not completely related to films." Lara Dutta in her true Miss India Pagent style said "I have grown watching Rajiv Ji and have always admired him for his ideologies and vision. It's a great achievement to receive an award by his name."
Besides, Saif and Lara other Bollywood star who walked away with the award is Darsheel Safary. The evening saw some astounding performances by Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rakhi Sawant and music composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Rajiv Gandhi Award has been given every year to people from different walks of life who have achieved brilliancy in their individual arena.
The award was also awarded to Anna Hazare for social service, Mehul Choksi for innovative marketing, Vir Sanghvi for his contribution in the field of Journalism, Sunny Varkey for education, Baichung Bhutia for being the most inspiring sports personality, Sameer Gehlaut as the young enterpreuner and Vandana Luthra as the Women Achiever
