Saif follows wife Kareena's footsteps
Bollyood actor Saif Ali Khan will be seen endorsing a new deodorant soon and it seems that he has slashed his fees for it.
It was not very long ago, that reports said Kareena has slashed her fees for endorsing a green tea product and now her hubby is following the Begum’s footsteps.
A source was quoted in the media as saying, “The brand is relatively new in India. They were looking out for a known face as it is important for them to create a buzz. So they approached some Bollywood actors and Saif was one of them. After a couple meetings with him, they have now decided to take him on board. He too has given them a nod.”
The brand has already shot some commercials with only new and forthcoming models till now, and this move will be a big one for them. But because they are a new player in the field, they had requested the star to reduce his fees. And the actor has obliged them.
According to the source, “Saif usually charges R4.5 crore but since he doesn’t have too many ad deals in his hand right now, he agreed to slash his fees. He will apparently charge R1.5 crore for this brand association.”
At the same time another source close to the actor reportedly said that Saif’s fees varied depending upon the product. “He is a known face and he keeps getting lot of offers for commercials, but he is picky about what he takes on. Often he chooses a brand depending on his availability.” Reports said the actor himself was not available for a comment.
Following several unsuccessful stints in Bollywood movies in the 1990s, Saif first received applause for his performance in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ released in 2001, which marked the turning point of his acting career. His role in ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ in 2003 won him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor, and then he was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in ‘Hum Tum’ in 2004.
Saif earned critical applause for his performances in ‘Parineeta’ in 2005, ‘Being Cyrus’ and ‘Omkara’ in 2006.
In 2009, he ventured into film production with his company Illuminati Films. The first movie to be released under this banner was, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, which was a box-office hit.
Besides acting in films, Saif is also a stage performer.
