Saif Ali Khan mimics father-in-law Randhir Kapoor
Saif Ali Khan’s next film, ‘Humshakals’ is ready to hit the theaters on June 20th. Directed by Sajid Khan, the film is supposed to be a laugh riot based on mistaken identity. Saif and the two other lead actors, Ram Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh will all be playing triple roles in the movie. There is no lack of beautiful ladies in the film as well, since Bipasha Basu, Tamannaah Bhatia and Esha Gupta also star in the film. Sajid Khan has delivered two big comedy hits already with ‘Housefull’ and ‘Housefull 2’. We will have to see whether he gets third time lucky too.
According to a press release by the film’s makers, one of the main attractions will be the three lead actors mimicking yesteryear Bollywood stars. According to the statement, Ram Kapoor and Ritiesh Deshmukh will be seen aping the likes of ‘Big B’ Amitabh Bachchan, veteran star Shatrughan Sinha and others. Interestingly, Saif Ali Khan will be mimicking none other than his father-in-law and veteran actor, Randhir Kapoor. For a scene in the film, Saif will bring back the signature head movements and funny hand gestures that were synonymous with Randhir Kapoor during his acting career. While Randhir is yet to give his reactions, Saif has his hands full because if he messes up, his wife Kareena will be none too pleased.
Randhir Kapoor, the eldest son of Bollywood great Raj Kapoor, had a successful film career of his own. From early 1970’s to the late 1980’s, he starred in 34 films (25 as solo hero and 9 multi-starrer). Some of his biggest hits are ‘Jawani Diwani’ , ‘Kasme Vaade’, ‘Chacha Bhatija’ and ‘Heeralal Pannalal’. At one time he was one of the highest paid actors in Bollywood. After 1987 he took a long break from acting and turned to direction and producing. After his father passed away during the maling of the film ‘Henna’ in 1991, Randhir took up the direction and completed the film. He received the best director nomination at the Filmfare awards. In recent years he has made a comeback in acting, occasionally doing supporting roles in films like, ‘Housefull’ and ‘Action Replayy’. In the 2012 film, ‘Housefull 2’, he and his brother Rishi Kapoor acted together for the first time.
His son-in-law Saif Ali Khan, on the other hand is busy with two projects- ‘Humshakals’ and a counter-terrorism drama, ‘Phantom’ where he acts alongside Katrina Kaif. The film will come out in 2015.
