Saif Ali Khan enthrals with his rock performance in Mumbai


Saif Ali Khan recently performed with rock band Parikrama at the Seagram's Royal Stag Mega Music concert in Mumbai. Saif also crooned a few numbers along with strumming the guitar. Saif's daughter, Sara was amongst the audiences cheering her dad on, unfortunately ladylove Kareena could not be by his side as she was busy shooting out of the country.
Saif joined the lead guitarist and vocalist of Parikrama band and crooned a few numbers along with them. He played 'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple that he said got him to play the electric guitar. Also on his playlist were AC/DC's 'Highway to Hell' and Pink Floyd's 'Run Like Hell'. Saif also played Chuck Berry's 'Johnny B Goode' and dedicated the song to his daughter. Saif also sang AC/DC's 'Whole Lotta Rosie' and The Doors' 'Roadhouse Blues'.

Prior to Parikrama, Pakistani band Strings crooned a few of their popular tracks. Many in the crowd also got a glimpse of the much talked about 'Kareena tattoo' on Saif's arm. Saif along with Parikrama had earlier performed in Bangalore and will perform in Kolkatta next. Saif brought the performance by the band to an end with good advice saying "God bless you all, take care and have safe sex."

John-Bipasha flag off Mumbai Marathon

The Mumbai Marathon 2008 saw several bollywood celebs rise and shine early Sunday morning to lend their support to the event. John and Bipasha along with Priya Dutt flagged off the wheelchair event which saw differently-abled participants joining in with gusto and enthusiasm. The crowds cheered on encouragingly. Several national as well international level participants were part of the marathon along with lay folk who had participated.

Shabana Azmi, Arshad Warsi and Tina Ambani flagged off the Senior Citizen Run. Tina Ambani's businessman husband Anil Ambani himself participated in the Marathon. Other celebrities at the event, some of who participated included Tara Sharma, Aparna and Konkana Sensharma, Rahul Bose, Om Puri, Milind Soman etc. Many ran for charitable organisations etc but it was the unrelenting spirit of Mumbai that was brought out as thousands gathered to participate, encourage or simply cheer on.

Rekha, Amitabh, Ash congratulate music ace Rahul Sharma who wed Barkha Patel

Music Maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma's son Rahul Sharma, an ace musician himself tied the knot with Barkha Patel. And naturally a mix of bollywood stars, musicians etc tuned up to congratulate the bride and groom. Amitabh Bachchan along with daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai came to give the lovely couple their blessings. A gorgeous looking Rekha also came to congratulate the couple. Vinod Khanna and wife Kavita came to deliver their hearty congratulations to the Sharmas.

From the music world, naturally there were a host of well known faces like Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia who is also a close family friend. Hariharan, Jagjit Singh, Illa Arun and her daughter Ishita Arun, Adnan Sami etc were some of the familiar faces at the wedding reception. Rahul and Barkha looked resplendent and radiant.

SRK's wife Gauri throws a baby shower for Farah Khan

Choreographer turned director Farah Khan maybe still getting over the success of her film Om Shanti Om which starred good friend SRK. But now the lady is currently preoccupied with her soon to arrive babies, Farah is expecting triplets sometime in Feb-March. So obviously her good friends were keen to throw her a baby shower. Recently Shahrukh's wife Gauri threw a baby shower for Farah and naturally it was done in style at Mannat, the actor's home.

Although it was a small do as Farah cannot exert herself too much, it was a fun affair. Many Bollywood wives were invitees at the baby shower. Many who hang out with the Khans like Maheep Kapoor, Bhavana Pandey, Seema Khan, Alvira Agnihotri, Adhuna Akhtar, Tabu, Neelam, Mana Shetty, Rani Mukherjee, Karisma Kapoor etc were invitees. Farah's good friend Karan Johar also helped Gauri put together this baby shower. There were gifts galore for the mommy to be. The guests played interesting and innovative games and kept themselves entertained. Farah was glowing and basking in all the attention. However except for lucky guys SRK and Shirish Kunder, there were no other male guests.

Big B launches Aditya Udhav Thakeray's music album

Amitabh Bachchan launched Shiv Sena chief Bal Thakeray's grandson's music album. The young Aditya, son of Udhav looked shy and graceful on the occasion and was a far cry from his vociferous father and grandfather. The entire Thackeray family was present to lend their support to their family member. Naturally even Bal Thackeray made an appearance for his grandson.

Other musicians like Sunidhi Chauhan, Kailash Kher, Anu Mallik etc were also seen at the event. A sprinkling of bollywood celebs as well as political people also came to wish young Aditya all the best on his musical journey.
