Sachin Tendulkar turns singer for ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign

Crecketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has lent his voice to ‘Swachh Bharat’ anthem, with the aim of making the government’s ‘Clean India’ campaign and public movement.

The anthem composed by the talented musician trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and also sung bu Shankar Mahadevan and others will be released on the eve of Mahatma Ghandi’s birth anniversary on October 2.

The day will mark the completion of one year of ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Regarded as the 'God of Cricket', Sachin took to Twitter to share the news of his going behind the mic. "Lending my voice, support and more to a #SwachhBharat. With @Shankar_Live, @Prasoon_Joshi, @SuPriyoBabul,” he posted and also shared a picture of him with composer-singer Shankar Mahadevan.

“Celebrities have come together to create a ‘Swachh Bharat’ anthem aimed at enthusing and inspiring citizens to join hands in realising the collective dream of a ‘Clean India’,” a senior official in the Ministry of Urban Development, said.

They have responded enthusiastically to the Prime Minister's call for a ‘Jan Andolan’ (public movement) to make the ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission successful, he added.

The anthem song has been written by lyricist Prasoon Joshi and it will also feature a video being produced by Mukesh Bhatt.

Master blaster Tendulkar has contributed to this endeavour by reciting a few lines that will feature in the anthem. He has also provided various musical suggestions for the recording of the song.
