‘Rustom’ inching towards Rs. 100 cr; pegs Rs. 75.90 cr in five days

Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Rustom’ which opened to a great response at the box-office, is fast inching towards the prestigious Rs. 100 crore club. The crime film collected a total of Rs. 75.90 crore nett by five days.  

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures and wrote, "#Rustom Fri 14.11 cr, Sat 16.43 cr, Sun 19.88 cr, Mon 17.81 cr, Tue 7.67 cr. Total: Rs. 75.90 cr. India biz. EXCELLENT."

‘Rustom’ hit screen at an opportune time during the Independence Day weekend, followed by the festival of Raksha Bandhan on Thursday, August 18. In between, it was Parsi New Year on Wednesday, August 17, which is a regional holiday. The movie has reaped the benefits of the holiday season and is expected to add another Rs. 8-10 crore during these days.  

While, the nett collection is pegged at Rs. 75.90 crore, the gross amount earned by ‘Rustom’ in five days has already reached 105.42 crore, and the nett amount is likely to cross the figure soon.

With ‘Rustom’, Akshay may get his fastest entrant in the Rs. 100 crore club. The actor already has five films in elite club. ‘Airlift’ earned Rs. 100 crore in 10 days, while ‘Housefull 3’ made it in 13 days. Besides, ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘Housefull 2’ and ‘Holiday’ are also listed in the prestigious club.    

The movie has been performing exceptionally well in the international market as well where it has minted Rs 20.27 crore in four days, and its fifth day collection is estimated to be around Rs. 4 crore.

Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, ‘Rustom’ is inspired by the true incident of Nanavati case. The movie also stars Ileana D’Cruz, Esha Gupta, Arjan Bajwa, Kumud Mishra, Anang Desai and Sachin Khedekar.
