Rohit Shetty to direct Kjo’s ‘Ram Lakhan’ remake
Director Rohit Shetty has been roped in to direct Dharma Productions new project which is a remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1989 blockbuster, ‘Ram Lakhan’. Karan has signed Rohit to direct the film. Dharma Productions tweeted about the new teaming of Karan and Rohit.
"Here's the big announcement! Rohit Shetty & Karan
Johar, in association with Mukta Arts, present RAM
LAKHAN in 2016," read a message from the official Twitter
handle of Karan's Dharma Productions, Friday.
The film will be co-produced by Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts.
The original ‘Ram Lakhan’ is a multi-starrer comprising Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Dimple Kapadia and Rakhee. The songs of the film were also a chartbuster. However, nothing has been revealed about the cast of ‘Ram Lakhan’ remake. But there is a hush hush in the industry that Karan might zeroed upon his ‘Student Of the Year’ actors, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra or ‘Gunday’ stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor.
Rohit Shetty is currently penning script for Shahrukh Khan and Kajol. His last two flicks, 'Chennai Express' and 'Singham Returns' did a bumper business at the box-office. He is touted as Bollywood's 100 crore club director.
