Rekha turns down film opposite Amitabh Bachchan

The evergreen actress of Bollywood Rekha has turned down film opposite the megastar of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan. Audience who are longing to see the iconic couple once again after 32 years will surely get a heart break as Rekha has now walked out of the film as the date of ‘Super Nani’ clash with Anees Bazmee’s ‘Welcome Back’.

When Anees approached both Rekha and Big B for the role, both were keen to work together and also gave their nod but later Rekha has raised date issue problem. In ‘Welcome Back’, Amitabh Bachchan was to step into Firoz Khan’s shoes and Rekha was signed to play an affluent fashionista. ‘Welcome Back’ is sequel to 2007 blockbuster, ‘’Welcome’.

Rekha was more than happy to share screen space with Amitabh Bachchan but she was unfortunate that her date clash with Indra Kumar’s ‘Super Nani’.

According to a source, “Rekha and Amitabh had agreed to do the roles, but Rekha will not be a part of the film now. The dates she is required to shoot for Welcome Back are already given to Indra Kumar’s film.”

The source adds, “Neither Amitabh nor Rekha had expressed any apprehensions about working together in Welcome Back. They did have scenes together. Rekhaji had agreed to do the movie but she will be shooting in November and December for Super Nani and those dates she has given well in advance.”

"We are considering Rekhaji for a role which will have love angle between Nana and Anil. But it is too early to talk about all this as nothing is decided and confirmed. As there are three-four veteran actresses that we are thinking of it all depends if they like it or not, their dates and money issues," Bazmee told reporters earlier.

A source close to the project once said, "Neither Amitabh nor Rekha have expressed any apprehensions so far about working together in Welcome Back. And yes they do have scenes together."

Rekha and Amitabh Bachcahn’s mystery love story always keep the gossip mill churning. The two first acted in hit movies like `Do Anjaane` (1976), `Muqaddar Ka Sikander` (1978), `Mr Natwarlal` (1979), `Suhaag` (1979), `Silsila` (1981) and few more. Their chemistry was always talked about. They are considered a sizzling on-screen pair of the past.

Bazmee assures audience will get to see a new side of Big B in the film, he said, "Bachchan saab has done almost every role in his life but I can assure you that this one will be something terrific and special for him. The role will also be much longer than what Feroz saab essayed."

Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor will reprise their role in the sequel while John Abraham and Shruti Hassan are the new additions. The film is expected to go on floors early next year.
