Rani Mukherjee turns item girl

Doing item numbers is a trend in Bollywood. It is not only beneficial to the filmmakers but in turn helps the actors earn quick money with lesser hardship. Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Bachchan and many other big stars has done item numbers and now joining the bandwagon is Rani Mukherjee.

Rani is going to do an item number in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring Shahrukh Khan and Saawariya girl Sonam Kapoor. In the beginning of her career, she had done an item song in Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala starrer Mann. The song turned to be a hit and after that she was flooded with many offers. Today, she is an established star and doing item numbers at this stage means enormous money.

Rani was reluctant to do any item number at this stage of her career but when she was approached by the man with whom she is linked up with and the producer of the Yashraj Films, Aditya Chopra, she couldn't say no. He made a generous effort to convince her to do an item number for his film. Apparently, Aditya paid her a heavy amount to groove in the song. The film is still in the production stage and touted as one of the biggest release of 2008.
