Rani Mukherjee in YRF's boldest film ever


Rani Mukerji is at it once again. She is slated to star in Pradeep Sarkar's next, titled Mardaani. It is a Yash Raj Film Production, and it will be their boldest film till date. Pradeep Sarkar and Rani Mukerji share a close bond, having previously worked together in 'Laga Chunri Mein Daag.”

Rani Mukerji has been known to play extremely versatile roles, and this will just add another feather to her cap. From Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat to Aiyya, Rani Mukerji has surely come a very long way. A source was heard saying, “Rani has played versatile roles from being a grieving mother in her last film with Aamir Khan to portraying a headstrong journalist but this time, she will be seen in an all-new bold avatar.”

She established a place in the film industry with her portrayal of Tina in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ad since then, she has only grown as an actress. The script required an established actress as well as someone who could hold the film on her shoulders entirely. It is a woman centric film with a strong character.

Aditya Chopra and his team personally selected Rani Mukerji after going through the script, as they felt she would suit the the role in the best possible way. The source went on to add, “Aditya and his team were scouting around and thought Rani seemed to be an obvious choice, for more than one reason. Plus, the production house is really fond of her.”

Rani Mukerji will be playing a cop for the first time in her career. Director Pradeep Sarkar was heard saying, “The film will be raw and gritty. It is something that neither Rani nor I have attempted before. And it's always good to invade in new territories, isn't it?” the major portions of the movie will be shot in Mumbai.

Rani Mukerji has earlier worked with Yash Raj Productions in Dil Bole Hadippa, in which she pretended to be a man so as to be a part of the cricket team.

Rani Mukerji had a mixed year at the box office last year. Aiyyaa was thrashed by the media and audiences alike whereas Talaash was liked by most. Rani Mukerji made her film debut with Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, but it was with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, that she managed to establish her image as a good actress. She went on to work with Aamir Khan and Salman Khan after that.
