The megastars of Bollywood have traditionally cashed in on the festive season, timing the release of their blockbusters at these times. The rising young star of silver screen, Ranbir Kapoor is all set to follow in the footsteps of these super stars. His Bombay Velvet directed by Anurag Kashyap is scheduled to be released in Christmas 2014.
Ranbir has been known as a fun loving person, always ready to help his costars. However, the crew of Bombay Velvet gets to see firsthand how dedicated and hard working this charming actor really is. not only has he studied the role well, but also requested director Anurag Kshyap to let him in on the set 10 days before the shooting so that he becomes familiar with everything. Ranbir interacted with other characters in the film and is undergoing regular training for the last year because he appears in the role of a street fighter in the film.
Bombay Velvet is based on the book Mumbai Fables written by historian Gyan Prakash. It traces the growth of Bombay in the post colonial era from a city to a metropolis. Ranbir plays the role of a street fighter and he has been paired with Anushka Sharma for the first time on silver screen. Karan Johar will be appearing in a negative role in the film.
The shooting of the film is almost ready to commence and a massive set has been constructed in Sri Lanka depicting the Bombay of 1960s and 1970s. a source on the set said, "Anurag Kashyap is there with his core team. The construction of the set has already begun. RK has told the producers that he wants to spend some quality time on the set before shooting starts. He reasoned it would help him to understand the character better."
"It is a massive set and so is the crew. Ranbir wants to interact with the background actors who will be a part of the day-to-day scenes. He wants to have discussions with Anurag about the role as well. His martial arts training, which will help him adapt to the role of a street fighter, will be a part of his daily routine there. Ranbir's dedication and zeal is quite infectious and the whole team is now bubbling with energy to start the shoot," he added.
There is some rumors that the film will be a part of the trilogy.
