Ranbir to play Shiva in ‘Immortals Of Meluha’

The novel ‘Immortals Of Meluha’ created a buzz in the market with its launch. It became a celebrated book.  Soon after 2 more books were launched in the series of ‘Immortals Of Meluha’. The novels are written by Amish Tripathi.

It has been quite some time that film maker Karan Johar bought the rights of this novel from Amish. He wanted to adapt this novel into a movie. But he had loads of work and his project could never see sunlight. So, Karan has further asked his friend and film maker Ayan Mukerji to direct this movie. Ayan has willingly taken up this project.

Ayan and Karan brainstormed for the lead role and they have finally pinned Ranbir Kapoor for the adaptation of ‘Immortals Of Meluha’.

Says a source, “Initially Karan was keen to direct the film but now it will be Ayan. Picking Ranbir was a unanimous choice. Ayan has already started work on adapting the book into a screenplay. The other parts of the trilogy will be decided upon later.”

The project will go on floor next year. In this movie, Ranbir will play the part of Shiva. When Karan Johar was planning to direct the movie, he thought of Hrithik Roshan and later Shahid Kapoor for the lead role. Hrithik Roshan was then signed for ‘Shuddhi’ which is another project of Karan Johar’s Dharma production. Karan had then said, “For me, it is not just another film. I would say it would be a game-changer for Dharma Productions.” With the film going to Ayan, it will be interesting to notice if the film turns to be a game changer for him. Ayan earlier directed ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ which was a block buster movie.

When Karan was asked about the concept of Meluha for him, he said, “Every movie I make, becomes my Meluha because to me, every film is therapeutic. Every film, I would say... it becomes a life at that point of time. So, we create a Meluha every time we put our vision on celluloid, and I think that would be any filmmaker's answer.”

It was earlier also rumored that Hrithik’s movie ‘Shuddhi’ was based on the story of ‘Immortals Of Meluha’. To this Karan Johar tweeted, “For all who are asking and want to know! SHUDDHI is not an adaptation of Immortals of Meluha!”
