Rajshri Films CEO Rajjat Barjatya no more; Bollywood mourns his death

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya’s cousin Rajjat Barjatya passed away on Friday evening at a Mumbai hospital. He was the CEO and MD of Rajshri Films. His mortal remains were cremated on Saturday afternoon at Worli crematorium.

Rajjat is survived by his wife and two children.

According to media sources, Rajjat was suffering from Cancer and was admitted in Jaslok Hospital for over a week. “He passed away today (July 29) evening at 6.45. He was here in the hospital for last 10 to 12 days,” a source from the hospital was quoted by IANS.

Rajshri Productions was founded by Sooraj and Rajjat’s grandfather Tarachand Barjatya. Rajjat was the brains brain behind the production company's unique marketing strategies.

Bollywood is shocked and sad at the sudden demise and expressed their grief and condolences on Twitter.

Salman Khan, who has starred in Rajshri Films’ blockbusters like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun...!’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, posted a photo of him with Rajjat and wrote, “Rest in peace my brother Rajjat Barjatya.”

Riteish Deshmukh wrote, “Rajjat Barjataya – RIP – Noble, kind, warm & a true gentleman. Prayers & condolences to the family.”

“Deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Rajjat Barjatya. May his soul rest in peace,” tweeted Boman Irani.

Vivek Oberoi posted, “#RIP @RajjatBarjatya a wonderful human being gone too soon!”

Filmmaker Shirish Kunder wrote, “Nothing shakes you up more than when someone your age dies. RIP Rajjat Barjatya. A dear friend, since I edited a film for him 13 years back.”
