Rajinikanth joins twitter, gets 150,000 likes on his first day

Ahead of the release of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, superstar Rajinikanth joins the large social networking site twitter and no sooner, he made his first tweets, the twitter world went berserk and he received over 150,000 'followers' on his first day of joining the social networking platform.

"Salutation to the Lord. Vaaakkam Anaivarukkum! A big thank you to all my fans. Excited on this digital journey," read the first tweet by the thespian.

His first movie post his illness, ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, directed by his younger daughter Soundarya R. Ashwin, is slated for Friday release and Rajini thought it would be the best decision to connect with his fans through the digital world as he and his film would get huge exposure. His decision to connect to his huge fans through the digital world is best timed. ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ is being jointly produced by Eros International and it stars Deepika Padukone in the female lead.

He has decided to engage with his fans via the Twitter handle @SuperStarRajini.

Earlier in the day, Rajinikanth said in a statement: “I decided to start with Twitter because I felt that the platform is abuzz with all the news I’m told that this is where all the bestRajini one liners are! I have always believed that my career graph is a miracle I owe my fans. I have been contemplating joining the social media platform for a while to connect with them, hear what they have to say and share my thoughts. Unfortunately, I never got around to it until now,” he said.

He has partnered with CA Media Digital's first venture, Fluence - a celebrity digital network - to manage his digital presence. It manages the digital account of celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sonu Nigam, Shaam and Karishma Kapoor.

"I am confident that I have the best team and the best guides who will help me connect with my audience," said the superstar.

Rajinikanth has a huge fan following all over and with every minute his follower is adding.

The first tweet of the superstar is linked to a video recording of the iconic actor stating: “I am happy to connect with my fans through social media, starting with Twitter.”
