Priyanka is doing all she can for her film on Mary Kom

With biopics on sportspersons being in vogue, and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ being an indicator of it, the next on the list is Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming film ‘Mary Kom’. For those who aren’t aware, ‘Mary Kom’ is a biographical drama film directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali on a story and screenplay written by Saiwyn Quadras.

Rob Miller of ReelSports, the sports action director for ‘Chak De India’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, coordinated the sports action sequences for the film. It is based on the life of the Five times World Champion, Indian boxer Mary Kom and stars Priyanka Chopra in the lead.

Priyanka is said to have put exceptional efforts for portraying her role in this film. From fighting real life boxers in the movie to singing a lullaby in the film to going bald for some scenes, Pee Cee has done it all!

"All my opponents in the film were real boxers," Priyanka said in an interview. "It was very difficult to shoot with them because they are real boxers and they don't know how to fake a punch, they had to really hit you. So I had to get hit a lot and that was really hard," she added.

On the trailer launch of ‘Mary Kom’ on Wednesday, the diva told us, "I have sung a lori (lullaby) in the film, which comes in the important part of the film. It's a very intimate conversation between the mother and child and yes, it was fun. It has a good tune".

Furthermore, for a crucial sequence in the biopic, Pee Cee adorned a bald look as it was her “responsibility” to do justice to her character. The actress even went on to say that, “For me work is worship, I don't compare it with money. I do lot of hard work (for my films). If I get money, great, otherwise I will do a film like this only (free)".

Priyanka feels there is similarity between her and Mary Kom's life. "Mary's life is extremely inspiring. We have similarity like not the diamond and boxing ring, but in terms of our upbringing and where we come from and the fact that we two women stood alone in a male-dominated field," she said.

Reportedly, Priyanka was very nervous when Mary Kom, along with her husband K Onler Kom was watching the film. However, Mary’s reaction that she was moved by Priyanka’s acting did bring some relief to the Bollywood star. "I have watched the film at a special screening and I liked it a lot. It was a very nice feeling to watch the movie and it has come out very well," said Mary Kom.

News is around that the film, which releases on 5th September, may go tax-free. Fingers crossed everyone!
