Priyanka donates 50 lakhs in father's memory
Former miss world and actress Priyanka Chopra, who was very close to her father, lost her father to cancer a few months back. In his fond memory, Priyanka donated a sum of Rs. 50 lakhs to the newly built cancer ward of a suburban hospital in Mumbai.
Priyanka donated the sum to the health care global enterprises cancer centre at the Nanavati hospital. Last evening, Priyanka was present at the hospital with her mother. She inaugurated the ward to help cancer patients. The ward was inaugurated in the name of Priyanka’s father, Dr. Ashok Chopra.
A source from the hospital said, “PC was close to her father and was heartbroken when he passed away. She was keen to do something for those suffering from cancer and recently came to know about the hospital’s initiative.”
Priyanka not only provided the hospital with the donation amount, but she was also present to inaugurate the facility. The official spokesperson of the hospital said, “We are inaugurating a section for cancer patients in the name of Dr Ashok Chopra.”
While inaugurating the medical facility, a teary eyed actress said, “This is a very emotional cause as few months back my father passed away because of this. I miss him.”
“Something like this shouldn't happen to anyone. I am proud to be associated with it.” she added.
While her father was alive, she had got a tattoo designed on her wrist reading ‘daddy’s lil’ girl’.
Recently Priyanka did an item song for ‘Ram-Leela’. She called the item song as a modern mujra with a blend of traditional and contemporary styles.
She is also busy with the promotional activities of ‘Krrish 3’. Recently she said that her upcoming movie ‘Krrish 3’ was about her. She said, “Basically, this film is all about me. Everybody, here, is after me - whether its Vivek, Kangana or Hrithik. So this film should have been named as 'Priya' (my character) instead of KRRISH 3. But I can't reveal you further as it will be a spoiler for KRRISH 3.”
It was rumored that she had asked the makers of ‘Krrish 3’ to make her character more significant. To this, she said, “The second part written by Rakesh Roshan is all rubbish. I don't know from where it came...When Rakeshji narrated me this was the original script, which is why I was so excited and I at once thought of doing the film as I wanted to be part of it. Though I play only a girlfriend & wife in the film, my character is equally important here. I completely trust Rakeshji and his sensibilities.”
